Child Life Certificate Application

Annual Application Deadline: May 15

The prerequisites (FAM 252/352, FAM 357, FAM 390) must be completed prior to applying (most students apply at the end of their junior year). Note that other courses in the certificate curriculum—except FAM 500—can also be taken prior to (or in lieu of) formal admission into the Child Life Certificate program.

In addition to completing the application, you will also need a letter of recommendation from an employer, volunteer coordinator, or college instructor (who is not on the selection committee). The letter should ideally describe your character, skills, and abilities relevant to working with children in a professional/medical setting, using evidence-based practices. Have your recommender email that letter by May 15 to Emily Bollinger at emily.bollinger@uky.edu.

Admission to this certificate program is competitive due to the limited number of practicum slots available at Kentucky Children's Hospital, so you are encouraged to prepare thoughtful written responses in the application.
